Assign Actions

The Actions tab, found in the Template, Report and Constant Delivery Pipeline property views, contains action assignment and duplicate trigger properties.

There are six different states which can trigger actions.

StateDescription
On Start ImageOn StartTriggered when a scheduled component is started (e.g. A monitor or report starts). Use the component to stop services or processes when a monitor starts.
On Complete ImageOn CompleteTriggered when a scheduled component is completed (e.g. A monitor or report is completed). Use this component to email reports when completed.
On Warning Trigger ImageOn TriggerTriggered when a scheduled component is triggered (e.g. When a monitor exceeds it's warning threshold). Use this component to fire email alerts when a monitor triggers.
On Critical Trigger ImageOn Critical TriggerTriggered when a scheduled component is triggered (e.g. When a monitor exceeds it's critical threshold). Use this component to fire email alerts when a monitor triggers.
On Error ImageOn ErrorTriggered when a scheduled component errors (e.g. When a template is assigned to a machine that is blocked by a firewall causing an RPC Server is Unavailable to be thrown). Use this component to get notified when servers are down.
On Trigger Recovered ImageOn Trigger RecoveredTriggered when a scheduled component recovers from either a warning or critical triggered state (e.g. When a monitor no longer exceeds is warning or critical thresholds). Use this component to fire email alerts when a monitor recovers.
On Error Recovered ImageOn RecoveredTriggered when a scheduled component recovers from an error state (e.g. When a server is offline). Use this component to fire email alerts when a monitor recovers.
  • The Select Action drop-down includes a drop-down button and a plus button.
  • Use the drop-down button to select an already existing action.
  • Use the plus button to create a new action from scratch.

Assign Action Drop-Down Control

  • Use the Suppress duplicate triggers option to suppress duplicate actions from being re-run after a monitor is triggered or errors (e.g. If running a monitor every hour that triggers each time, you will only receive the first alert. Subsequent alerts will only be sent after the triggered state is cleared).
  • Use the Clear trigger state after option to automatically clear a triggered state enabling monitors to re-run actions at the defined frequency (e.g. If this value is set to clear after one day, you will only receive an alert once a day regardless of how many times a monitor runs). Once automatically cleared, the assigned actions will run the next time the monitor triggers.
  • Use the Only fire error actions... option to suppress error actions when other templates assigned to the target host have errored. This option enables you to receive a single notification when a server goes down rather than a notification for each assigned template as they error.
  • Use the Hide informational data table rows option to exclude information data table rows.
Important
This option is not applied to log monitor templates.
