Desktop Actions
Desktop Actions enable you receive notifications from any desktop that has the Management Console installed and is connecting to the service.
To create a new Desktop Action
- From the Menu Bar select File | New. The Create New Object View displays.
- Select Alerts and Actions. The New Action view displays.
- Use the Name text box to specify a unique name.
- From the Type drop-down select Desktop Tray Notification.
- Use the Hosts drop-down to target specific Management Console hosts.
Important
To notify all connected Management Consoles, do not assign any hosts.
- Check the Set level option then select the level to apply, otherwise either the executable state (e.g. Started, Warning, Critical, Error, Recovered or Completed) is applied.
- Use Title text box to specify the message title.
Use the Variablebutton to specify variables you would like to include in the title (e.g. {HOST}).
- Use Message text box to specify the message you would like to display.
Use the Variablebutton to specify variables you would like to include in the message (e.g. {HOST}).
Use the Font, Text Color and Background Color to assign the message font and colors. - Use the Play a sound check box to play a sound on the target machine then select the filename to play.
- Click the Test button to test the action on all assigned or connected Management Consoles.
